Firefighters: Dirty Gutters Are a Fire Safety Hazard

Posted by Gutter Helmet - October 21st, 2009

Florida firefighters are asking homeowners to take their dirty gutters seriously.  In addition to causing clogs (which, in turn, can cause water damage to your home) dirty gutters are a fire safety hazard.

If you live in a dry climate, you most likely have brush fires and/or forest fires in your area.  Sparks from these fires can travel a great distance and actually ignite the dry leaves and twigs in your gutters.  “Roofs need to be cleaned off,” said Lt. Vandemark, in an interview with MyFox Orlando.  “Gutters need to be clean, free of litter and pine needles.”
